Considered weather conditions, socio-economic and natural factors, meteorological disaster risk assessment will provide a theoretical basis for the planning of prevention and mitigation of regional disaster.In this paper, the data of basic geographic, many years of meteorological and historical disaster, were analyzed to establish the meteorological disaster risk assessment model by GIS technology, combined the formation mechanism of the rainstorm and flood, drought, high temperatures, strong wind and hail damage in Hebei Province. Five kinds of meteorological disaster risk were assessed in Xushui County. The main contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) the meteorological disasters happen according to different rules and study area defin ed region characteristics, according to the disaster degree, in disaster standard to confirm the analysis of all kinds of severe weather characteristics on the basis of violence and frequenc y, using history happened with disaster degree weather phenomenon establish extreme weathe r events, severe weather and flood degree, and the relationship between sure different levels of disasters.(2) The influencing factors and formation mechanism were discussed in term of method of disasters causes. The risk assessment models of a meteorological disaster were built. With the help of GIS spatial analysis and map capabilities, five kinds of meteorological disasters risk were assessed in Xushui County. While hazard zonation levels were given, the zoning map of meteorological disaster risk were draw out in Xushui County.(3) Risk assessment results of single meteorogical factor. Considered the hazard risk, disaster-environmental sensitivity, disaster body vulnerability and disaster prevention and disaster reduction capacity, the northwest part is a high risk area for the rainstorm and flood disasters, while the southeast part ranks second. The central region has high risk of drought disaster, and the southwest region has low risk of drought disaster. The high risk area of high-temperature disaster is located in the central region and a fraction of southern area in Xushui; Most regions belong to the high-risk or higher areas for strong wind. The central area is high-risk for hail in Xushui County.(4) Risk assessment results of comprehensive meteorological factors. The meteorological disaster risk value is not same for a variety of meteorological disasters in various parts. Different kinds of disasters have different degree of influence on Xushui. The central region, Dayin, Gaolin, Dawang and Yilianzhuang are in high-risk areas, while Baohe and Zhengcun, is relatively a risk areas of low degree, relatively speaking.
