The predictive functional control (PFC) is developed on the basis of the predictive control, the PFC has simple algorithm, less calculation online, and track a target fast. It is like predictive control, the system model is obtained through experiments, it has good control on the complex process. The key of the differences between PFC and predictive control is that it pay attention on the control structure.Currently, the control algorithm of the excitation system and EPA system is the traditional PID algorithm. And, these systems are very high requirements for real-time, the effect of traditional PID control algorithm in this regard is not very obvious. So, in this paper, it derive the improved PID predictive functional control algorithm(PIDPFC) based on discussing the existing control methods of the excitation control and the EPA system and analyzing the predictive functional control (PFC) algorithm and PID algorithm, furthermore, it is used in controlling the synchronous generator excitation system and controlling the EPA dual-tank water system.Firstly, it do the simulation to the excitation system by traditional PID and PFC control algorithm in this paper to verify the validity of these two algorithms, and analyze the results of the simulation, propose the inadequacies. Secondly, it apply the new control algorithm to the excitation system, it not only research and analyze the timeliness and stability, but also give a simulated disturbance in the process of system operation to verify the anti-jamming capability of the algorithm. The test is very successful, and the results are satisfactory. We do experiment not only on the three order excitation system, but also on the two order EPA experimental device with dual-tank water, the experiment can also achieve satisfactory results, it indicates that the algorithm is indeed feasible it illustrated the advantage of the PIDPFC algorithm by the contrast of the examination.
