Deep prospection technology is an important direction of future resources exploration, existing metallogeny theory and prospecting practice shows deep (>500m) has huge prospecting potential. The Yangtze river is China’s important metallogenic belt, exploring the deep fine structure and ore-controlling structure is of great significance for the mineral resources exploration in this area. The magnetotelluric sounding method (MT) as a passive source electromagnetic sounding method, with high efficiency, low cost, deep detecting depth etc, is suitable for exploring deep tectonic and delineating concealed resources.This paper is based on the subject of "tongling ore district stereo detection technology and deep metallogenic prediction model" relyed on the central south university, including the analysis, processing, inversion and explain of tongling MT data. Tongling ore set area is one of the regions in the middle and lower Yangtze metallogenic belt which has high degree of geological research, the region has several large copper, sulfur, gold polymetallic deposit, such as the famous dongguashan copper gold deposits, the phoenix mountain copper iron and gold deposits, etc. But the surveyed area populated, water system developed, traffic network densely covered, communication and power grid developed, many mines be mining, these complex interference sources bring many difficulties for the collection and processing of MT data.This paper mainly introduces the MT data collection design, data acquisition and data processing flow, finally inverse the date with nonlinear conjugate gradient (NLCG) and interpretate the result with geological material.By comparing the geological sections, the inversion results and geological data have certain anastomosis, accord with geological rules, can more accurately reflects the regional structure, revealing that NLCG can be a good inversion in the MT data inversion; By the constraint of tongling district’s current geological and geophysical knowledge, according to the NLCG inversion results, infer the deep geological body preliminarily, obtain a series of conclusion, provide a new basis for improving the basic geological understanding of tongling area and put forward new ideas and theoretical guidance for tongling ore set area deep mineral exploration; we an also see MT can accurately detect the deep geological structureit,it proves that MT can be good used in the earth deep detection.
