Xinchang area is Western Sichuan Depression of the largest multi-gas, multi-gasreservoir to the superposition of the complex region.The discovery of Xinchang areais a major breakthrough in the history of China’s tight clastic gas field exploration.Thereservoir of the4th Member of Xujiahe Formation is one of the natural gas mainproducing formation.Detailed study of sedimentary facies and reservoir characteristicshas great significance to the evaluation and prediction of the4th Member of XujiaheFormation in the study area.Based on the theory of sedimentology, reservoir geology, petroleum geology,make use of the thin section, the conventional property analysis, SEM, CL,this paperstudies in detail the sedimentary facies, characteristics of petrology, diagenesis,porespace,pore structure,analyzes the causes of advantageous reservoir development.Theresults and understandings of this paper are follows:1.According to the sign of sedimentology,paleontology,and geophysics,,carriedout the study of sedimentary facies.The study area mainly are made up of braidedriver-delta and lake.And carrying out a detailed studying on sedimentary micro-faciesin the depositional system,setting up a corresponding deposition model.2.The sandstone type of the4th Member of Xujiahe Formation in the study areais complicated various.The sandstones of the4th member of the Xujiahe Formation inthe study area are mostly litharenite and lithic quartz sandstone.Interstitial material ismainly of carbonate cements, siliceous cement and clay minerals.Inside,clay mineralsis mainly illite,followed by kaolinite and chlorite.3.The diagenesis of the4th Member of Xujiahe Formation in Xinchang areaincludes compaction,cementation,dissolution and rupture.The destructive diagenesisis mainly the compaction and cementation.The constructive diagenesis is mainlydissolution and rupture.In the upper and lower4th Member of Xujiahe Formation,there are some differences in the compaction,type of cement and itscontent,development of rupture.4.The reservoir space types of the4th Member of Xujiahe in Xinchang areamainly includes secondary particles dissolved pores, intergranular dissolution poresand casting pore.Sheet face rate is generally small, the upper was slightly higher thanthe lower.Pore types is mainly grain dissolution porosity, followed by secondaryintergranular porosity, primary porosity is rarely.5.Reservoir properties is bad as a whole, which is a typical tight reservoir,localdevelopment of the relatively high-quality reservoir.The porosity and permeabilityrelationship of the upper is better than th lower,the development of the relativelyhigh-quality reservoir,too.Controlling factors of relatively high-quality reservoirdevelopment have sedimentary microfacies,the rock detrital, rock structure,depositionand diagenesis.Compaction is the most important factor in the decrease in porositysandstone.Authigenic illite is of special significance to the development of therelatively high-quality reservoir.The dissolution is the key to the formation ofrelatively high-quality reservoir.The rupture improves the permeability of the rockand the performance of reservoir.
