In the paper, the reservoir-forming characteristics of shale gas in America weresummarized. It is accounted that the thick shale deposited on a certain depth andhypoxic environment can provide source and reservoir for shale gas, it is called“continuous accumulation” oil and gas reservoir.Sedimentology, petroleum geologyas a guide, Collect and sort out the date of Lower Yangtze area Cambrian shaledevelopment characteristics, Organic Geochemical Characteristics and OrganicGeochemical Characteristics. Combined with outcrop observations, thin sectionanalysis and sample analysis of test data, to determine the shale layer Sedimentaryfacies sign and research shale sedimentary facies types. On this basis, establish asedimentary facies model. Combined with the deposition, distribution, hydrocarbongeneration features of Lower Cambrian shale in Lower Yangtze area. thereservoir-forming conditions were systematically studied. Lower Yangtze area haveshale with the potential to produce gas. the shale of lower Cambrian have richorganic matter, good organic type, rich brittle mineral and high organic degree, generally in super maturation. After Cambrian formation deposited, the area hasexperienced multiphase tectonic movements, which caused a great quantity of cracks, conformities and wrinkles, offering sufficient accumulated spaces for shale gas. Finally, through the shale index of thickness distribution, organic carbon content, thermal evolution degree and brittle content of brittle mineral in Lower Yangtze area, the favorable exploration zones were preliminarily forecast.
