In the areas of national defense construction、 military weather protection andaerospace, the calculation of the atmospheric density parameter is very important. However, due to the influence of various factors, such as season, temperature, humidity, day and night, shape of the earth and so on, the variation of upper atmosphere density is quite complex.Coupled with the limitations of the early observational data accuracy, it is also difficult tofully grasp the distribution of characteristics of the upper atmosphere, making the pace ofdevelopment of the atmospheric density model simply can not keep up with theever-increasing demands of the various aerospace service areas on the accuracy of the model. Therefore, the detection and study of the distribution and variation of atmospheric density hasa very important significance. In search of the domestic and foreign research results, the paper has done some work as:1. The paper describes the development of sate gravity detection technology and itsapplication in atmospheric dynamics. Then, describes the development of the atmosphericmodel and its inversion profile at home and abroad.2. The GOCE satellite system, the mission objectives and the basic principles of gravitygradient measurement are introduced. Then, do some research on the general theory of thegeodetic inversion.Least squares method is introduced into the field of atmospheric densityinversion, and establish the inversion model of the atmospheric density.3. Firstly, the paper discusses the atmospheric space cylinder model in detail, and derivesthe detailed formulas of the gravitational potential generated, gravitational and gravitygradient by the air cylinder model in the space of a point, gravity gradient, the gradient at apoint based on the NADM atmosphere model. Then extract atmospheric information from theGOCE satellite gravity gradient. Finally, describes in detail the gravitational potential, gravitational and gradient which are produced by the earth’s core, solid earth circling andthroughout the whole of the solid earth at a point of satellite orbit.4. Using least squares combined with satellite gravity gradiometry data to simulate on the basis of the mathematical model and get a more satisfactory inversion results and carry outa detailed analysis of the inversion results and error.
