The self-elevated platform dominates in oil and gas exploration on the ocean withincontinental shelf region. This is because of its strong capability in positioning and goodstability in operation. But the offshore platform structure always faces a huge threat insafety caused by the loads coming from the complex sea environment where the platformis located. These loads include wind load, wave load, ocean current load, tide load and theother random loads. In the study of this thesis, the strength and stability of the platform’sleg and shoe are checked per FEA (finite element analysis) by Using Ansys-a kind ofgeneral commercial FE (finite element) software. And a more comprehensive safetyassessment for the platform’s leg and shoe is also worked out according to the FEA.In this paper, the design study of the jack-up system is introduced and explained first. Then is the study for the design working condition and design loads. Meanwhile, studyand calculation of the environment loads are also given out. Last are the FEM (finiteelement model) creation and strength calculation for the platform in all workingconditions. And calculation results show the strength and stability of the platform’s leg andshoe are all acceptable.
