To research the variation of the inertia force of moving mass along cantilever is of vital importance to soluble the problems of designing and flaw detecting the cantilever device. However, it is difficult to directly measure the inertia force between the moving mass and cantilever because it is in motion and time varying in the model of moving mass along cantilever. So, indirect method for identifying the inertial force has been the research focus of the structural dynamics.This paper is concerned with the improved interpretive method based on wavelet transform to identify the inertia force between moving mass and cantilever. Firstly, the identification method in cantilever model is established based on the identification method in simply-supported beam model and the structure of characteristics of the cantilever, the effectiveness of the method is proved by the numerical calculation. Secondly, by using the theory of wavelet transform to do some multi-resolution and time-frequency analysis for the variation information of cantilever under moving mass to solve the problem of the defects fixed order of modal. Adaptive rules based on the order of the modal is established by getting the frequency component of the vibration information of each sampling point in each moment, the accuracy of the identification method is greatly improved. Finally, by using use of non-contact measurement method to get the variation information in cantilever under moving mass, then the parameters of inertia force are calculated by the interpretive method.Through this research, the parameters of inertia force of moving mass along cantilever are obtained by using the identification method. The result has been used in a number of research projects and supported analysis of cantilever.
