Wufeng gold deposit in Yanji has a long exploration history. Scholars haveconducted a lot of studies on Wufeng gold deposit. Because of high intensityproduction in recent years, this area is facing serious resources crisis at present,and the ore bodies near the surface are almost depleted. Therefore, define whetherthere is mineral or not in the deep became very important, and then the value offurther exploring Wufeng gold deposit can be analyzed. This paper conducteddiscussion of the prospect of exploring this deposit, and provides furtherprospecting in this deposit with scientific basis, through the study on theore-controlling geological conditions and the characteristics of Au/Ag ratios inWufeng gold deposit.Ore-controlling geological conditions are significant in studying the conditionsand regularities of mineralization. Defining the ore-controlling geological conditionsis inevitable in the predicting and the prospecting work, and it is also the basis ofgeochemical exploration and geophysics exploration. Based on the geologic featuresof Wufeng gold deposit, the ore-controlling geological conditions of Wufeng golddeposit was analyzed, and this paper came up with3conditions such as tectonicstructure ore-controlling condition, volcanism ore-controlling condition and structureore-controlling condition, which provided the basis for further defining prospectingdirection and establishing prospecting model, at the same time provided geologicalbasis for choosing reasonable exploration geochemistry methods.Au/Ag ratios play an important role in the geochemical exploration of golddeposits, which is mainly reflected in these aspects: Au/Ag ratios are significant inindicating the denudation degree of ore bodies, especially for hydrothermal golddeposits, and normally, gold deposits that suffered weak denudation have a lower Au/Ag ratio on the surface, while those that suffered serious denudation have a higherAu/Ag ratio on the surface; Au/Ag ratios are significant in the prediction of ore bodies,and because Au/Ag ratios usually have gradually increasing trend or decreasing trendfrom surrounding rocks to the center of ore bodies, the location of the ore bodies canbe predicted by analyzing the variation trend of Au/Ag ratios from ore bodies,alteration zones, surrounding rocks to normal rocks; Au/Ag ratios can provideinformation in terms of genesis of deposits, indicating the mineralization types ofdeposits, and using Au/Ag ratios, deposits can be effectively evaluated in terms ofwhether they are independent gold deposits, independent silver deposits or Au-Agassociated deposits, which define the economic values of the deposits.Scholars have done certain research on Au/Ag ratios used in prediction of orebodies and evaluation of deposits, and suggested that the Au/Ag ratios alone havecertain limitation in indicating gold deposits. Therefore, some scholars came up withupdated Au/Ag ratio index, according to the Clark values of Au and Ag, as well as theproduction-grades of them, based on which, this paper came up with regional Au/Agratio index according to background values of Au and Ag, and utilized it in Wufenggold deposit and some other deposits to discuss its feasibility, and acquired a goodapplication effect.This paper used single Au/Ag ratio index, updated Au/Ag ratio index andregional Au/Ag ratio index raised by this paper respectively to conduct the predictionof ore bodies in the deep and the evaluation of the deposits for NE-1ore body andNW-33ore body of Wufeng gold deposit. The conclusions are: through analyzingAu/Ag ratios, it is deemed that NE-1ore body and NW-33ore body of Wufeng golddeposit have a weak denudation, and can be seen as the middle-upper of the orebodies; by conducting the metallogenic prediction for the deep of these ore bodies inthe two directions, it is indicated that there are two metallogenic prediction areaswhich are the area under level-1of NE-1ore body and the area under level-3ofNW-33ore body; Wufeng gold deposit not only mainly holds gold, but also hasabundant silver that can be seen as associated mineral resource, and regionally, silveris rich enough to be independently defined as ore bodies, further improving the economic value of the deposit, therefore, Wufeng gold deposit can be considered asWufeng gold-silver deposit to expand the economic value of it.
