The study of Structural geology is closely related with human’s production and life, the development of kinds of energy sources like coal, oil and the effective in prevention of volcano, earthquake and other natural disasters which are severe threat to human have close relation to the development of Structural geology. There are so large amounts of fault in earth that the fracture mechanics is applied to the structural geology and the structural geology get a certain development. This article mainly discusses a kind of common fault model in structural geology, and transform it into crack model in fracture mechanics through using the knowledge of fracture mechanics.Firstly the paper summarizes the generation and development of fracture mechanics and some of successful application on the structural geology, and introduces its research status at home and abroad. In the second chapter, the basic ideas in the plane elastic complex variable method and the basic theory and formula used in this paper are introduced in detail. Then the paper transforms the pattern that fault exists in the joint of the earth’s crust and mantle into the model that the sidelong crack lies in the match line contained in the elastic material in fracture mechanics in the third chapter. After that the stress and displacement boundary condition of the model are offered by using the knowledge of fracture mechanics and this complex problem is divided into two simple problems to solve. Then the analytic solution of the first problem is solved, and the other is converted to singular integral equation by introducing the new integral transformation. Then numerical solution of singular integral equations are identified. At last, the solution is drawn by using MATLAB in the computer, including the trend of stress function change under the difference of the material、force、angel and the thickness of elastic strip. At the end of the article, the latest outlook of this field is also discussed.
