The experiment of slaking mudstone concerned the following aspects:wet and dry cycle, different occurrence of rocks, confining mudstone or not, and indoor and outdoor experimental environment.The disintegration of the rock samples is very weak under the confined condition, while the rock samples not confined collapsed. Its possible reasons:First, in the surrounding conditions, water can not enter the rock body by surrounding side, thereby reducing the change of moisture content;_secondly, under the confined condition, rock was prevented from fracture.Different rock occurrence makes different fracture. Less fracture emerged as the rock occurrence is horizontal than it’s vertical. The possible reason is that, more water will seep into rock when the rock occurrence is horizontal. When the rock occurrence is horizontal, joint appear on the surface of the rock, and cut rock into small pieces.The result of indoor and outdoor experiment is slightly different, but not obvious. Rocks was cut into irregular shaped pieces in the end of the outdoor experiment, while most of the rocks cut into globular shaped pieces in the end of the indoor experiment.The process of disintegration was more quick when the rock sample was seek into water than the rock was in rain scene.Through experiments, the appearance of rock in different condition was showed. Conditions that will effect the disintegration of rock were summarized. Some analysis was made and mechanism of how water and temperature do the effect on the disintegration of rock.
