The landslide is a serious geological disaster phenomenon, and the earthquake is one of the direct causes of the landslide. The landslide often cause casualties and economic losses, Landslides caused by large earthquake often make buried houses, damaged roads and barrier lake, especially the damaged road directly blocks the road of rescue and slows the speed of rescue. Through the edge extraction of landslide, estimation of landslide area and speculation of landslide scale, the effective data suport is provided to the rapid emergency response of earthquake relief.At present, there are a lot of researches about the landslide feature extraction from re-mote sensing image, but there are still many problems. This is because of the complexity and diversity of the landslide image characteristics. This article revolves around the landslide edge rapid extraction to develop research. Through the analysis and researches of the recent years’landslide information extraction methods, this paper probes into the basic idea of landslide edge detection and improves the existing image segmentation methods. According to different characteristics of image, this paper adopted three methods on landslide boundary extraction.Firstly, by discussing the landslide characteristic of image, this paper proposes three methods of edge detection. They includes edge extraction methods based on region growing, edge region growing and K-means clustering. By the region growing method, according to discuss the characteristics of the images of landslide, the criterion of growth is color similar-ity measure, and landslide areas are merged by color similarity. And then the landslide edge is extracted by edge extraction method. The edge is smooth and refined and the landslide boundary is achieved. Finally, this paper estimates landslide area by filling closed landslides boundary. By the edge region growing method, fist of all, edges of global image are ex-tracted, and then landslide area is extracted by region growing method. Finally, landslide boundary and area are acquired. By the K-means clustering method, the k-means clustering method are used for image segmentation and edges are extract from the result of segmenta- tion. The landslide boundary is acquired using region growing, and then landslide area is measure and calculation. This article writes the corresponding programs according to the proposed algorithm.and includes image smoothing, image segmentation, edge processing, filling, and other functions. This article realize better the landslide boundary extraction and area measurment function.
