Study On The Waveforms Separation In The Multicomponent Seismic Exploration

Seismic waveform is the vector field of time and space which vary with timeand space. The change is because that the waveform is the result of interference andcombination of different type of waveforms which maybe P or S. These differenttype of waveforms have different polarization direction and other differentpolarization parameter.Multicomponent seismic exploration will monitor these different type ofwaveforms, and polarization investigation will calculate these different type ofwaveforms and then the polarization parameters which will be used by thepolarization filter to separate the3-component data set.This paper focuses on the polarization filter and its parameter, studying thetheory of multi-component seismic exploration and polarization filter. Afterintroducing the basic theory of multi-component seismic exploration, the waveformseparation method which is based on the covariance matrix is given. After that thepolarization filter function is given.In order to study the technical method of seismic wave separation, this papertry two kinds of filtering method: first is Phase-difference filter, another isCovariance-matrix filter. I try two different ways to study these two kinds of filters:1. make a model and make the synthetic data from it.2. separate the synthetic data with these two kinds of method and analysis theresult.3. after the analysis of the synthetic data, I try a real seismic data, and analysisthe result of it.After the analysis of these two kinds methods, it proves that the first filteringmethod,that is the phase-different filter, is not a effective way to do the job.However, the covariance-matrix filter is efficient to separate the real seismic data.
