The finite element method is a new numerical calculation method which has developed since the 1960s and is the production of Computer Age. It widely applies in elastoplasticity mechanics, fracture mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat conduction, which is a important research area on the overlapping of engineering science and computation science. The finite element grid division is the finite element moves towards the project application the key position, is a finite element method extremely important research area, has experienced more than 40 year development courses. The finite element analysis unit process may divide into three stages: The finite element model establishment (i.e. front processes), finite element resolving, the result reduction and the evaluation (i.e. post-processing). According to the experience, the time which the finite element analysis various stages use is: 40%-45% uses in the model front processing, 50%-55% uses in the post-processing, but analyzes the computation only to account for about 5%. Therefore, the finite element analysis front post-processing continuously all is the finite element analysis bottleneck question, is seriously hindering the finite element analysis technology application and the development. In recent years, the finite element grid production method research key shifted from the two-dimensional surface question to the three dimensional curved surface and the three dimensional entity question, from the triangle, the tetrahedron grid automatic production shifted to the quadrangle, the hexahedron grid automatic production. Although the existing each kind of commercial finite element software has provided the very good automatic grid division system, when still, carries on the grid division willfully to the complex shape object has some problems, namely hexahedron unit automatic grid division and grid auto-adapted also not full solution.In view of the hexahedron grid division time auto-adapted question, elaborated one effective method–WMG (Waveform Mesh Generating), uses this method to be possible to found the complex physique the partial territory auto-adapted hexahedron grid. In addition, in front of the finite element post-processing system FAST (FEM Analysis Support Tool) in the platform, uses the WMG method, carries on the re-development to the FAST system complex physique modeling and the hexahedron grid automatic division part, succeeded for the first time obtained the complex solid of revolution -- helical spring hexahedron grid model. And carries on the grid division using the profile law to it, obtained the quite satisfied hexahedron grid unit helical spring model. Finally, the helical spring took the new module joins to the FAST software system in, further has enriched the FAST model base.
