As a frontal technique of metallurgical region, it is applied in the production ofnonferrous metal of twin roll strip casting, which is to combine of rapid solidification anddeformation, and to open up a lot of deep-level basic research areas. It includes chemical-metallurgy, mechanical metallurgy, material science, and so on. To choose the castingprocess parameters is every essential in the rolling process. Researching on temperatureand flow field of the roller and cooling water in the two-roll continuous easting processby modem numerical simulating technology is very useful for the development of castingtheory and technology.This paper was based on the experimental two-roll casting machine which wasdesigned by school of mechanical engineering and school of material in YanshanUniversity to research flow and temperature field of cooling water and temperature fieldof roll sleeve.Firstly, it has described turbulence model of the cooling water, and identified heattransfer equations and boundary conditions.Secondly, it has used 3D modeling software to build model of cooling water, whichconsidered the rotation effect of the roller and ignored the influence of the temperature ofthe cooling water. Starting from the N-S equation, the RNG k-εturbulence model wasused to calculate the flow field of cooling water, which used cloud pictures, graphs andflow chart to reflect the distribution of the cooling water. It has been obtained that thecontour lines of the four plugholes near the water wall were nearly circle, and near thecenter liked crescent shape.Lastly, it has used 3D modeling software to build model of roller and roll core,which has analyzed the relationship of heat input and output of the roller. According tothe law of energy conservation and the computing result of flow field, it has used thesoftware Fluent to simulate the temperature field of cooling water and roller. Consideringto the cyclical changes in boundary conditions of the outer surface of the roller, the paper has exploited to the second development in C language aim at Fluent, which obtained thetemperature distribution of cooling water in the cast-rolling part and the exit. Solving theapproximate solution to the roller temperature field by Galerkin method, and comparingwith the simulation results, they are anastomotic. These researches will provide a lot oftheoretical references for the smooth progress in the industry in the future.
