Large-scale forging press used to produce large-sized forgings is a vital equipment. It is irreplaceable for the production of large-sized forgings in the areas of the defenseand aviation. The production capacity of large forgings is not only necessary of thesocial production, but also the embodiment and symbol of a national strength. In thecourse of working, it will cause horizontal deformation of the frame for the complicatedstructure of forgings or the eccentricity of the forging in position, which may cause themoving beam move and rotate. Therefore, the precisions of forgings will be highlyaffected by the stiffness of the machine. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:On the basis of theories about loadings and deformations of press frames and basicknowledge of mechanics of materials and structural mechanics, the traditionaltheoretical calculation method used to calculate the deformation of press frames isreferred to in this thesis. As the specific structure and technology parameters of the165MN free forging press is known, the ideal result of deformation of the press frame isgot with this method. In order to verify the accuracy of this method, a large-scaledgeneral finite element software named ABAQUS is used in this thesis and the frame’sdeformation of the165MN press is simulated and calculated with the same workingcondition, which shows a large difference between FEM and theoretical results. Then, atorsional stiffness model is proposed to improve the precision of model.. The torsionalstiffness of the165MN press is calculated and its influence factors are investigated. Amodified calculated method is adopted for calculating results by using this method. Thehorizontal deformations in the length and width directions are predicted respectively. Inorder to verify the new method, the FEM is used to simulate the deformation of thepress with corresponding working condition. The comparisons of the results are wellmatched. The modified method above could be used to calculate the press deformationin horizontal direction at any given forging condition, which will be checked by FEM.At last, in order to calculate the work shaper precision, a corresponding softwareplatform based on C++language is available. The ideal and method of this thesis is mainly used in two aspects. For one thing, tothe deflection of the moving beam under eccentric forging condition, for another thing,to specify the stiffness of the press with the deflection of the moving beam limited after the preliminary design of the press finished. It will be helpful to specify the stiffness andstructure design of the press.
