As a new technology of connecting solid material, friction stir welding is being paid moreand more attention to within the world for its incomparable advantages. The development of thistechnology has vital significance to improving the modern manufacturing technology, especiallyto improving the aviation manufacturing technology. In-depth study of the mechanism of frictionstir welding and improving the quality of welding have become one of the importantdevelopment trend in friction stir welding research fields. Analyzing signals of both temperatureand force during the process of welding is an important way of in-depth study of friction stirwelding.The main works and results in this thesis are shown as follows:1. Through analyzing and comparing different structures of octagonal-ring dynamometer, akind of octagonal-ring dynamometer was designed and manufactured combining with thecharacteristics of friction stir welding. And the size optimization of the octagonal-ringdynamometer was completed by using of Hyperworks, which is a kind of structure optimizationanalysis software.2. Modal analysis on the octagonal-ring dynamometer was completed by using of ANSYSanalyzing software, and the first six natural frequencies and corresponding vibration modes wereextracted. At the same time, the first six natural frequencies through modal test analysis werealso obtained. It was concluded that the simulation results and experimental results are basicallysimilar.3. Through analyzing and comparing different sensors of both force test and temperaturetest, resistance strain films were chosen as force test sensors and K thermocouple as temperaturesensor. And two different structures of K thermocouple were designed according to thecharacteristics of friction stir welding and temperature measuring requirement.4. A set of on-line test system on both temperature and force for friction stir welding basedon LabVIEW language was built, which can realize data collection, data storage on signals, andcan realize the characteristic value extraction of signals.Test of running the system shows that theon-line test system is simple, stable and reliable.
