Due to limitations of the technique, the lead time and the development cost in the design phase, an acceptable forming solution is not to obtain with a number of easy large trial-and-error runs. Numerical simulation technology, a quickly developing engineering analysis method, has laid a foundation for the automotive of the forming process design. It has been an indispensable tool to speed up the development of automotive. Auto-body panel dies forming force which is produced by the punch is the minimum force of the sheet metal forming, which is the important parameter for the choice of the punch. It is usually estimated by the sheet thickness and dies perimeter, but the estimation value and the true value is a big difference. In practical production, the true value of the forming force is acquired by the repeatedly stamping. The simulation calculation can detect more accurate forming force, which can save the stamping time and improve the production efficiency. At the basis of existing research, this paper researches the calculation principle of the forming force of studied. Combined with the engineering examples, the influencing factor of the forming force and the method of reduce forming force are discussed.This paper includes the following topics:(1) The forming force is discussed in the process of sheet metal forming. According to the simulation analysis with Autoform, the forming force is investigated with the influence of some key factors, such as friction coefficient, blank-holder force, stamping speed, adaptive level, drawbead resistance.(2) The forming force is also researched with some geometric characteristics. And the relationship between these geometric characteristics and the forming force are studied according to the simulation analysis with Autoform.(3) In this paper, orthogonal test is used to analysis the influential factors of forming force(blank holder force, friction coefficient, drawbead resistance, draw depth). As the result, the main factor of influence forming force and the optimal parameter which can get good forming quality with the minimum force are gained. Based on the simulation analysis results and orthogonal experimental results, the method reducing the forming force from the process is provided.
