Wood-based panel is the primary source of formaldehyde of human environment. It is significant that solving the emission of formaldehyde from wood-based panel by preparing a bio-based wood adhesive to replace the common urea-formaldehyde resin adhesive and its products at present. In this paper, the bio-based wood adhesive was prepared using wild arrowroot starch and acorn starch as raw materials. The effects of addition amount of amylase, polyvinyl acetate emulsion and isocyanate, degradation time, solids content on the bonding strength of plywood were investigated by preparing plywood and performance measuring. The experimental results showed that:1. The wild plant starch-based wood adhesives using wild arrowroot starch and acorn starch as raw materials can meet the type II Chinese Strandard plywood requirement. And the bonding strength of plywood of arrowroot starch is better than the bonding strength of acorn starch’s, so the arrowroot starch is more suitable to become the raw material of starch-based wood adhesives.2. Acorn starch adhesives optimization parameter:the addition amount of amylase A was0.8%weight of acorn starch, solids content was30%, PVAc:starch adhesive was1/1, the addition amount of MDI was20%weight of starch adhesive. The bonding strength of plywood was0.92MPa.3. Arrowroot starch adhesives optimization parameter:the addition amount of amylase B was0.2%weight of arrowroot starch, solids content was40%,degradation time was30min, PVAc:starch adhesive was1/1, the addition amount of MDI was18.8%weight of starch adhesive. The bonding strength of plywood was1.89MPa.4. The acorn starch as raw material preparing stuffing for UF resin can replace the common wheat stach, and the prepressing strength and bonding strength of its bonded plywood increased, the formaldehyde emission of the plywood were reduced.
