In this dissertation, fluoroacrylate copolymer emulsion was obtained using fluorinatedacrylate as functional monomer, alkyl acrylate as soft monomers, and acrylonitrile orstyrene as rigid monomer. The copolymer emulsions were applied on fabric finishing andthe relationship between the copolymer structure and application performance was studiedsystematically.Three alkyl acrylate with various carbon chain length was synthesized byesterification using acrylic acid and alkyl alcohol as raw materials, which named hexylacrylate (A1), octyl acrylate (A2) and decyl acrylate (A3) respectively. Their structure wasidentified by FT-IR and1H NMR, and the purity were tested to be99.50%,99.78%and93.78%respectively.Using methacrylatoethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (DMC) and Span-80asmixed emulsifier, functional monomer of1H,1H,2H,2H-fluorodecyl acrylate (FDA) wasco-polymerized with methyl methacrylate (MMA), alkyl acrylate and acrylamide (AM). Asa result, the cationic fluorinated acrylate emulsion was obtained and applied on cottonfabric finishing. The applying results showed that the waterproof and oil resistanceperformance of coplymeric emulsion was good with the contact angle to be126.5°andoil-repellent level to be2of the treated fabric.Using FDA and one of the seven different soft monomers as raw materials, fluorinatedacrylate copolymer emulsion was obtained with good stability followed by applying oncotton fabric finishing. The result showed that the longer the side chain alkyl groupprovided by the soft monomer copolymer, the better the waterproof performance at thebeginning, and when the carbon chain was up to8C, water-and oil-repellency performanceimprovement become slowly.Fluorinated acrylate copolymer emulsion was prepared with different rigid monomerchian link using FDA as functional monomer and butyl acrylate (BA) as soft monomer.These two monomers were coplymerized with methyl methacrylate (MMA), styrene (SM), or acrylonitrile (A) respectively. The fabric finishing application showed that the tensilestrength and tear strength of the fabric treated with styrene copolymerization was increased,but the touch feel became hard.
