Polyester-imides have excellent electronic properties, mechanical and thermal properties, was in particular useful as a base material for flexible printed circuits (FPC), impregnating insulating coatings of fh-motor, heat-resistant insulation material and wire enamel.This paper in the first place adopts the method of high temperature transesterification to manufacture ethylene glycol bis(trimellitic anhydride) esters (TMEG) and study the influence on synthesis method by the various factors such as the choice of entrainment of water、the dosage of acid、the dosage and kind of catalyze、the choice of the synthesis process. The results show that In the condition of certain dosage of acid and proportion of alcohol/acid, there is great distinction of the purity of products manufactured by different catalyzer, TMEG of epoxy class can gained by simplex catalyzer,then TMEG of polyester-imides class demand multiple catalyzer.This paper in the next place adopts the method of trimellitic anhydride acid chloride to manufacture bisphenolA bis(trimellitic anhydride) esters (BTPDA), and study the influence on synthesis method by the various factors such as the kind of catalyzer、the system of solvent、the temperature of reaction and the method of aftertreatment. The results show that In the condition of certain catalyzer,the reaction is successful at the different range of temperature, but there is great distinction of purity of products manufactured by different method of aftertreatment.In the study, a series of copolyester-imide were prepared by reacting 4,4’-oxydianiline (4,4’-ODA) with a dianhydride blend powder comprised of bisphenolA bis(trimellitic anhydride) esters (BTPDA) and another diferrent dianhydride such as 3,3’,4,4’-Biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (BPDA),4,4’-oxydiphthalic anhydride(ODPA) or,pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) to study it’s performance.
