The roller of coal mining machine is the key component of coal mining machine which is used to cut coal, break coal a, fall coal and load coal. During the working process, roller do the traction movement by straight line and rotary cutting movement. In the coal-cutting process, the pick-shaped cutters which are installed on the end plate of roller and blades, are in the state of intermittent cutting of coal. When the picks cut coal, they need to withstand the higher cyclic shear stress, extrusion stress, more severe abrasion and impact. Therefore, cutting picks on the roller are a large number of consumable parts in the process of mining coal. The roller used in this topic is a product of a company. In the course of this type of coal mining machine work, the overal roller’s vibration is serious, the differences between forces on picks are large, which leads to large differences between lives. So it is inconvenient to make repairs and supply replacements. Accordingly, this topic primarily intends to study on structural improvement of the coal mining machine’s roller.This topic studies a model of coal mining machine’s roller. The auther use three-dimensional modeling software UG to build the model of roller, cutting picks and coal wall. When the assembly is completed, import the mode to the pretreatment software, that is, explicit dynamic analysis software ANSYS/LS-DYNA12.0to establish finite element model of roller cutting coal, output solution files namely keyword file. Import the keyword file to the solver LS-DYNA. View solution results files in post processing software PRE-POST. Draw the dynamic simulation images of coal mining machine’s cutting process and extract the force of individual picks and overall roller. Draw the three-axis force and resultant force. After comparison and analysis of the force on picks, to improve the situation of force, adjust the installation angles of the cutting picks. After repeated adjustments to the installation angles, make the force on picks balanced and the roller overall vibrate smoothly. After the study of the subject, the subject of this research achieved the purpose of the force of cutting picks on the roller average, differences between lives reduced, the roller overall vibrates smoothly and the whole machine cutting performance improved.
