In a textile mill production, in addition to single grows silk, twisting filament,deformation silk, and network degrees higher network silk, most warp must be passedsizing before weaving. The commonly used paste of Warp sizing is mainly three types of astarch, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and acrylic size.At present, the main use is the original starch warp size, PVA chemical pulp in ourcountry, But chemical PVA size there are serious pollution, starch paste serous existingdefects and shortage of hard and brittle. Grafted modified starch warp size for itsadvantages of good affinity, low price and so on, become research focus on replacing PVAsize and starch in slurry field. But now grafted starch paste application effect is not ideal,research progress is slow, is still at the stage of exploration research, there are low graftedrate, the complex production process, high cost, performance is not perfect.In the study, the corn starch is used as raw material, grafting acrylate on it by the wayof the chemical initiator, to prepare graft starch warp size. In the fabrication process, theresearch mainly from the following several aspects: First of all, study the process ofbranch copolymerization, observe different influence on the reaction process conditions,obtains the best reaction process for: antioxidant/reductant=1:2, the initiator/starch=30ml/10g, the reducing concentration is2mmol/L, bath ratio is1:3, the response time is3h,reaction temperature is40℃;Second, research in the initiator system composite of theCheap initiator, with the grafted rate and grafting efficiency index to evaluate the initiatorefficiency, final preparating grafted modified starch warp size of the biggest grafted rate ofnearly16%, grafting efficiency for77%.At the same time, this paper studies the performance of chorion and seriflux of thegrafted starch size, as well as the warp sizing effect to the pure cotton yarn andpolyester/cotton blended yarn, compared with the original starch, the results show that theperformance of the preparation of grafted starch size is improve, serum viscosity decreased,adhesion on the yarn increased, warp sizing yarn breaking strength improved, wearresistance increased, hairiness index reduced, etc; compared with PVA size, the breaking strength properties such as there is still a certain gap, but with some performance is close,even the advantage, such as water soluble rate, desizing rate, etc.
