As the mainstream processing equipment of modern manufacturing, NC machine tool has become the focus of international manufacturing industry and national defense industry competition. NC machine tool is one of the important supports of aerospace industry and military industry development. NC machine tool is an important method of reducing manufacturing cost, ensuring products quality, improving productivity and market competitiveness. The quantity and performance level of NC machine tool is an important symbol of national competitiveness, reflecting a country’s overall manufacturing capacity.NC machine tool developing towards the direction of high precision and high reliability, the demand for their work performance is higher and higher. NC machine tools must have good static and dynamic performance. Static and dynamic performance of DL-20MP NC lathe are analysed and optimization is carried. DL-20MP NC lathe was developed for piston manufacturing by automotive engine critical parts flexible automatic production lines with high efficiency and high precision innovation platform, which is supported by national technology major projects. The main contents are as follows:(1) On the premise of ensuring accuracy of finite element analysis and fully reflecting the structural mechanical properties of DL-20MP NC lathe, the3D modal of NC machine is simplified and computation time is decreased greatly. DL-20MP NC lathe is meshed according to the structural characters. Loads and constraints are determined. The work condition of DL-20MP NC lathe is truly simulated.(2) Analysis process of DL-20MP NC lathe is determined. Cutting load transferring path is researched. Cutting load is computed. Deformation and stress nephograms of complete machine and critical parts are laid out.(3) The dynamic performance of DL-20MP NC lathe is researched according to modal analysis and harmonic analysts. First four natural frequency and mode shape are obtained by modal analysis. The harmonic response curves of complete machine and critical parts which are impacted by a periodic force are obtained through harmonic analysis.(4) Based on static and dynamic analysis results, the critical parts of DL-20MP NC lathe is optimized. Firstly, the topology optimization of landslide based on density method is carried out, with the layout of ribs optimized; secondly, the topology optimization of bed saddler based on density method is carried out, with the mass decreased; thirdly, multi-objectives parameter optimization of bed is carried out, with deformation decreased.. According to static and dynamic analysis and optimization of DL-20MP NC lathe, the mass is decreased, other indexs such as deformation and natural frequencies are also improved. The optimization results of this paper makes a guide for the redesign of DL-20MP NC lathe. The analysis process and methods provide a reference for the designing and manufacturing of similar machine tools.
