With the development of manufacture and scientific technology, traditional processing methods cannot satisfy the strict requirement of high product surface quality, as a result, the composite processing method combining non-traditional processing with traditional processing has aroused widespread attention. Electrochemical Abrasive Belt Grinding (ECABG), as a novel method of grinding, has been developing rapidly for its excellent processing characteristics.This paper has carried out the structure design of the processing device for cylindrical surface using ECABG, and mainly included the design of workpiece driving and clamping unit, electrochemical machining unit, abrasive belt grinding unit and the whole processing device. Through the belt drive, the workpiece is driven by an AC motor directly, which is controlled by a frequency converter to meet the rotate speed requirements of workpieces with different sizes. The workpiece clamping unit contains a3-jaw self-centering chuck clamping and a rotating center supporting to improve the support stiffness of the workpiece. Electrochemical machining unit includes electrode, feeding and locking mechanism, and it is simple in structure, convenient in operation and reliable in locking. Abrasive belt grinding unit mainly includes the structure of belt wheels and their motors, contact wheel, tightening wheel and guiding wheels. For the problem of the equipment of abrasive belt grinding occupying too much space, this paper gives its spatial layout, which can control the feed on radial and axial directions. In the whole processing device, the axial feeding function is realized by a linear reciprocating AC motor, which is reversed assembled to reduce the space occupied by the whole processing device.The whole designed processing device in this paper can make grinding process for cylindrical surface of diameter50-150mm, with maximum length of800mm. The whole processing device can provide certain practical significance for promoting non-traditional machining combined with other methods, and accelerating the manufacture and systcmatization of ECABG machine tool.
