| Neosonocalamus affinis, one of sympodial specieses, was first acetylated in different temperature and pressure, and then the dimension stability, the main physical and mechanical properties of acetylated bamboo specimens with different WPG (Weight Percent Gain), and the dimension stability of strand woven bamboo lumber made of acetylated bamboo slivers, were studied and discussed. The results are as follows:1. It was demonstrated that the effect of the time and temperature of reaction and the concentration of acetic acid on the WPG of acetylated bamboo specimens is significant by studying17processes, which were gotten from ANOVE. The influence degree of factors is in the order:temperature>time>acetic acid’s concentration.2. The thickness expansion rate of water absorbing and the water absorption of acetylated Neosonocalamus affinis bamboo slivers, decreasing with the increase of WPG, were significantly smaller than that of control groups, which both were the largest in all specimens.3. With SEM analysis, the cytoarchitecture of Neosonocalamus affinis bamboo specimens was destroyed to a certain extent, the layers of cell wall became indefinable, and the starch grains within the cell largely disappeared after being acetylated. Through FT-IR analysis, it was found that hydroxyl groups of acetylated Neosonocalamus affinis bamboo largely decreased, its ester functional groups largely increased following the increase of WPG, and as a result, the surface polarity of acetylated Neosonocalamus affinis bamboo was greatly reduced. Through X-ray analysis, cellulose crystallity of acetylated Neosonocalamus affinis bamboo declined slightly. This indicates that the cellulose’s esterifacation of Neosonocalamus affinis bamboo was not much in the process of acetylation.4. The thickness expansion rate of water absorbing of strand woven lumber made of acetylated Neosonocalamus affinis bamboo were significantly smaller than that of untreated bamboo, showing a trend of decreasing with the increase of WPG. The MOR and MOE acetylated lumber fell slightly with the increase of WPG, its bond performance obviously declined after dipping and peelling test, and the bond performance of4groups of strand woven bamboo lumber with different WPG fell to the same extent.5. After50days of UV/Condensation circle test, chromatic aberration of5groups specimens of strand woven bamboo lumber decreased with the increase of WPG, and that of untreated ones was the maximum, with mean value12.33. The chromatic aberration of acetylated strand woven bamboo lumber with WPG13.94%was the minimum, with mean value was10.13. After4weeks of mildewing test,4groups specimens of Neosonocalamus affinis bamboo didn’t get mould at all, but the untreated ones grew mould in their surface. |
