As healthy life become more and more important recently, cigarette industry pays moreattention on reducing tar and harm. Cigarette paper is one of the most important accessories incigarette, and it plays a more important role than other accessories, as it is directly involved incombusting process of cigarette. Combustion of cigarette paper directly influences theappearance and the flue gas component. Now the market demand of cigarette paper becomeshotter, which has high technology and individualization differences. The function of cigarettepaper is not only packing, but also combustion and suck flavor regular. The fiber, CaCO3fillerand additives are the raw material of cigarette paper, which play important role on cigarettepaper. In this paper, a set of methods for the detection of the fiber, CaCO3filler and additivesare built, and7cigarette papers are measured. The parameters of fiber in cigarette paper are determined by Kajaani FS300fiberanalyzer, and its’ feature is observed by OLYMPUS BX51optical microscope. The7cigarettepapers are compared to find out their differences. The results show that the7cigarette papershave little differences. The calcinations method, potentionmetric titration method and compleximetry titrationmethod were used to determine the contents of CaCO3filler in three cigarette papers, and theresults indicate that the calcination method is evidently influenced by the calcinationtemperature and time, which has adverse effect on the accuracy. The measuring results bypotentionmetric method and compleximetry titration method are rather stable, while themetallic oxides and carbonates in the cigarette papers bring errors to the measuring results bypotentionmetric titration method. The impurity ions in the cigarette papers are sheltered bycovering reagent in compleximetry titration method, so the accuracy of the measuring resultsis high. The XPS analyzing results show that the CaO is the main component in the ashes ofthe three cigarette papers, and the other chemical compounds such as C, Na2CO3, Na2SiO3,Na3PO4, CaSiO3, Ca3(PO4)2are also checked. The SEM analyzing results show that theCaCO3particles distributed in the fibres exhibit spindle-shaped microcrystallite and sphericcluster. This study presents an accurate method to determine the content of CaCO3in cigarettepaper. The Dionex ICS3000was used to determine the Acetic acid, phosphoric acid, malic acidand citric acid root in cigarette papers, and the results show that there is big difference in thespecies and contents between the7cigarette papers.
