In response to the new demand of architectural energy conservation, the preparation ofheat-insulating coatings was studied. Tranditional energy conservation technologies wereintroduced first, followed by a brief discussion of nano heat-insulating coatings.A alcohol-soluble acrylic resin applied to glass coatings was prepared, in which theacrylic resin was synthesized via free radical copolymerization of methyl methacrylate, butylacrylate, ethyl acrylate, methylacrylic acid,3-(Methylacryloxyl) propyltrimethoxy silane, ect.,as monomers, alcohol as solvent. The relationship between film performance and manyfactors were studied. These factors include synthesizing formulas, synthesizing technology, monomer dripping time, reaction temperature, rotation rates, reaction time, and so on.Furthermore, effect of initiator concentration on the co-polymer weight was studied.Experimental results showed that the main factors affecting ethanol-stability was thefunctional monomer used and resin molecular weight. Under optimum formulation the acrylicresin was able to be mixed with alcohol at volume ratio above1:10, which, in fact, indicatedinfinit solubility in ethanol. Film properties were as follows: water resistance time was48hours, hardness ranked at2H, adhesive force ranked between level0and1.A nano heat-insulating coating product for glass was developed by mingling the resinproduct with nano-ATO dispersion. Experiment results showed that nano-ATO content wasthe most important factor in deciding the coating’s heat-insulating ability, as well as lighttransmissivity. Succesfully developed in the end was a nano-coating product which was welldispersed, stabilized, and suited for different applications. To be specific, nano-ATO contentcan be increased to meet high heat-insulating requirement; under experimental circumstance, the effect could be12℃and more. Nano-ATO content could also be lowerd to achieve a highlight transmissivity of85%and above.
