The paper industry is an important part of the economy of Shandong province,paper production and majoe economic indicators for15consecutive years, ranking first in the country."Eleventh Five-Year" period of the previous four years, the production of paper industry and the main economic indicators have increased largely, the production has increased38.20%, the output has increased35.20%, sales revenue increased by66.10%, taxes increased by66.10%, profits increased by78.21%. However, the paper industry is facing excessive discharge of pollutants, the poor technology, the large qusntity of water, poor economic efficiency and other issues. These problems have seriously restricted the sustainable development of the paper industry. Through investigating and evaluating the paper industry, we can understand the current state of the industry,promote the sustainability of the paper industry and improve the competitiveness of the industry.The content of this paper is:(1)Investigate:information collection, the information included the paper industry in Shandong province, the domestic paper industry, the other imoortant industries in Shandong procince, the three major pulp production processes.(2)Evalute:establish the cleaner production evaluation index, based on indicators and data to evaluate the current level and status of the paper industry in Shandong province,compare the level of the three pulp production processes.(3)Summary:put forward suggestions from raw material selection, the efficient use of resources, technology transformation and upgrading technology, reducing pollutants. Through suggestions we can promote the competitiveness of paper industry in Shandong province.The conclution of the research:(1)Pollutants of waste water, gas pullutants and solid waste emissions of the paper industry in Shandong province is in a declining trend, the level of cleaner production of the industry is growing.(2)The level of the emissions of wastewater, waste gas and solid waste in the paper industry in Shandong province is higher than the level in the domestic industry.(3)The level of the emissions of wastewater in paper industry is lower than other industries in Shandong province,but the level of the emissions of solid waste is higher than other industries in Shandong province.(4)Waste paper pulp has the highest level of the cleaner production, followed by the sulfatebleached wood pulp, while the lowest level of the cleaner production is wheat stawpulping process.Paper innovation points:(1)We can learn the overall cleaner production status of the paper industry in Shandong province.
