Dealing with the characteristics in the carbon fiber production, including long process flow, various control parameters, and high control accuracy, a kind of control system was developed in the paper. Combined with optimization design of the related product software, the system achieved some new functions. Simultaneously, many problems in the carbon fiber production process control was solved effectively.According to the feature of the carbon fiber production, we presented the general requirements and design scheme of the control system. As a very important parameter, the temperature control was very difficult because the characteristics of equipments were non-linear and time-delay. We selected the fuzzy PID control as the algorithm., and performed simulation built in MATLAB. The results showed that the algorithm had high accuracy of temperature control and strong anti-interfere ability.We designed the hardware according to the requirements. The main design included the design of the total scheme, the design of low voltage cabinet, heating cabinet, and frequency converters cabinet. The paper chose PCC as the control centre. The paper completed the hardware design of PCC, including the design of PCC control cabinet, the selection of the PCC type and the other modules, the choice of the communication method, and the realization of telecommuting.The design of software included the programming of the PCC and man-machine interface. According to the functions need by the control system, the programme which be developed by the software Automation Studio, realized the control of temperature, the control of frequency converters, pressure monitoring and system alarmn. Besides this, the paper designed the programme to monitor the temperature curve which could be used in the host computer, by taking advantage of software MATLAB. We designed the man-machine interface programme that could achieve all the functions of the main PCC programme with the AS visual component. Apart form this, this programme realized some new functions such as auto-saving of the process parameters and intelligent management of the electricity. The filed application results showed that the system ran steadily, controlled precisely and communicated reliably.There were so many testing works to do in the carbon fiber production. In order to save manpower and material resources, we designed a kind of performance predict system using the Neural Network Toolbox of MATLAB and its GUI. We took the content of oxygen for instance to get the simulation results. The results showed that the training accuracy was high, and output of the prediction agreed to the discipline. So the system could be used in actual production. At last, we designed the process parameters database by the software Access, with the visible operation realized by the GUI toolbox of MATLAB. The visible interface could manage the data in the manner of inquiry, adjunction, deletion, modification, print and so on. All the work showed that the control system was optimized as expected.
