Since people have paid more and more attention on desiring for the machinespeed and precision, the much higher request is bring up for the performance in theindexes of a spindle system such as output power, controlled process and operatingspeed. However, as the core of a CNC machine tool, the motorized spindle systemwhich takes the charge of the CNC machining, is also a Key influencing factor of theoperating stability. According to statistic, in the CNC machine tool,more than40percent failure are caused by the fault of motorized spindle system; therefore, it isnecessary to deeply study the fault detection technology of the spindle system.Combining with the principle and familiar failures of the Electric Spindle,thedeep research are token in the fault detection system of Electric spindle system.Inthis research, the technology of wavelet transform is introduced into detection offailure. At first, the main vibration parameters are sampled in the process, and then,the sampled data are processed and analyzed making use of wavelet transformtechnology,lastly,the failures in the electric spindles are judged according to thedata.This paper is divided into four parts to demonstrate the research. In the firstpart, some compelling concept sand definitions related to mechanical vibration aresummarized. The common measurement parameters of equipment vibration, themeasurement mode of parameters, definition of parameters and the relationshipsamong the parameters are also studied, which lay a good foundation for the faultdetection technology of electric spindle based on analysis of vibration signal.Meanwhile, the working principles of some common methods for vibration analysisare also exhausted,.In the second part, the architecture and working principle of electric spindle areintroduced in detail,as well as the one of gearbox.The major failure features andmethod of detection of electric spindle and gearbox are analyzed,together with thefeasible detection methods and classical manifestation.In the third part, the general planning of vibration measure experiment ofelectric spindle are introduced.Types of classical failure experiment are done andvibration signals are sampled.In the last part, the author deeply studies the fault detection method inmotorized spindle on basis of wavelet transform, completely analyzes the basicprinciples and use-methods of wavelet analysis, as well as its advantages and features compared with other time-frequency analysis methods. What is more, healso states the problem of analysis of vibration signals in motorized spindle, andprovides the typical types of fault detection in the working process of motorizedspindle according to the principles and requirements of wavelet analysis algorithmso as to collect the data of different faults. Based on this algorithm, the authorprocesses the data and carries out a test the wavelet analysis results by comparing aseries of fault types in motorized spindle. As a result, the conclusion of operatingstate in motorized spindle are obtained, terrifying that it is available and practical todetect the fault in motorized spindle by using wavelet analysis algorithm.
