Sand production is one of the frequent questions in oil production, especially for loose sandstone reservoir, because of rocks in the formation are with loose cementation and high clay content, and plus the changes of production pressure during oil well production or some other reasons lead to sand problem easily in this reservoir. Sand production in oil wells will bring a variety of hazards, with the increasing of the amount of sand in the bottom hole, the sand will abrasive the equipments of the bottom of the well and ground pipelines which can cause damage to the oil extraction equipments and reducing oil production. In addition, with the rocks spalling, the casing around it will form a deficit which may cause the casing to deformation or even destruction, what’s worse, it may lead the borehole to collapse so that has to shut down the well which can not continue to produce. What’s more, the sand will pollute the environment somehow when it is moved to the ground. The reservoir rock of Luliang oil field section in Xinjiang Karamay is mainly fine-fine sandstone which is mixed up with mudstone. The means of contact between rocks is mainly point-line, and the mainly cementation is with pore contact type, and calcite is the main cementing material. The porosity of the rock is about28%on average, and the pore connectivity is very good. By using the logging data of the oil field, we predicted the situation of sand through sand prediction methods which shows that it exists sand problem in this area, and the problem will get worse when the moisture content is increasing. Thus, in order to solve the problem caused by producing sand, it is necessary to take early or advanced measures for sand control of the oil well. This article is based on the reasons for producing sand, describing the type and harm of sand production of the oil well. Through analysis of the mechanism from producing sand, we can learn further about the process of sand production. Besides, it also elaborates some sand control technologies used commonly at home and abroad, especially the technology of mechanical and chemical sand control which used more currently, in addition, it had a research on some of the new sand control technology at home and abroad. On the base of summarizing various sand control techniques, it requires to select the appropriate one or more sand control technology according to the actual reservoir conditions in the process of sand, and this article provides the principles and ideas for choosing better and proper sand control method, and analyses the influencing factors in choosing better and proper sand control method. Through the comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of various sand control methods and the applicable conditions, it can be more intuitive and effective to filter sand control method.Through a lot of experiments, we do a research on one sand consolidation agent called low-temperature epoxy resin in the lab. First, we optimize some materials such as cementing agent, curing agent, coupling agent, particle size of quartz sand and so on, then we have analyzed the curing mechanism of the sand consolidation agent, finally, using the liquid resin of sand consolidation and quartz sand to prepare consolidation cores for the experiment. Through single factor experiment, we investigate the dose of cementing agent, curing agent, coupling agent, and sand particle size which influence the compressive strength and permeability of the consolidation core. In addition, we not only research on different temperatures that will influence the consolidation time of the consolidation core, but also on different consolidation time that has effect on the compressive strength and permeability of the consolidation cores. The experimental results show that the consolidation core can reflect a good compressive strength and permeability when the amount of resin is5%, curing agent is0.6%, coupling agent is0.3%(as a standard of quality of quartz sand) and the quartz sand particle size is0.4mm-0.8mm. Finally, we had the evaluation experiments on the performance of the consolidation cores and the results show that compressive strength of the consolidation cores tend to increase and permeability is slightly lower with the increase of temperature under the conditions of40~150℃, which explain that the sand consolidation agent has good heat resistance and has a wide range of temperature, thus, it is suitable for using in various strata temperature reservoirs. Aging the consolidation cores5to20days in60℃water bath, the compressive strength decrease marginally and the permeability increased slightly, which shows that the sand consolidation agent has a good aging resistance. Soaking the prepared cores in water, formation water, different concentrations of acid and alkali and kerosene respectively, then measure the compressive strength and permeability of the cores after soaking for4and8days. The result shows that high concentrations of alkali have a certain bad impact on the effect of sand consolidation agent while it maintains a relatively high compressive strength and permeability in other media, which explains that the sand consolidation agent has good chemical resistance.
