Large gantry CNC machining center is a key processing equipment for civil and military power, shipbuilding, aerospace and high-precision instruments industry. Western industrial countries have been large-scale high-precision gantry CNC machining centers as strategic materials embargo on China. With the development of industry and the surge in demand, China’s urgent need to develop a five-axis numerical control equipment with independent intellectual property rights in China. Domestic production enterprises, research and development capabilities and experience is limited, most of the structure are used analogy, imitation of design, so that the machining accuracy, stability, and many other performance indicators are difficult to achieve. Comprehensive utilization of modern design theory and methods of machine performance optimization design technique is one of the key generic technologies and need to be resolved by the machine tool manufacturing industry in China.In this paper, Science and Technology Department of Jilin Province, the project "CNC machine tool design and manufacturing technology research (project number:20090336), first through the comparison of domestic and foreign large-scale machine tool Research, learned that the weak link of the large domestic machine tool research and development as well as domestic outside the research hotspot and difficult issues. The second topology optimization of the beam and column components of the gantry machining center, get them the best material distribution and the establishment of three-dimensional model of the machine. Its static and dynamic performance analysis, calculate the static deformation of the machine in the case of gravity and cutting force coupling, the first5order modal frequency and machine flexibility. Finally, the thickness of the reinforcement of the beams within the column structure as design variables defined quality constraints, local displacement (spindle shank position) to minimize the machine to maximize the static and dynamic stiffness (elastic strain energy minimization) and the average natural frequency of) as the objective function, the gantry machine tool, multiple loading cases and the target structure parameter optimization.The research was applied in the Changchun machine developed XK2425/5L axis gantry CNC machining centers, the products have been proved in practical application, the actual processing of Changchun Institute of Optics Fine Mechanics and Physics Institute:the machine has a good dynamic and static performance.
