Determinants of the readers to buy books is not the value of the goods, or notentirely its function to some extent, it is decided by emotional memory and pleasantpsychology. So putting design psychology research into use of book design is verynecessary.This article through the design psychology research fully shows the relationshipbetween the reader’s emotional factors or reading psychological needs and the intrinsicelements of book design. From the point of the overall design’s view of the books, itsums up the reasonable books design methods at different levels of correspondingemotional needs of readers and use it into the book design so that the design ispurposeful and consciously cater to different readers’ psychological needs. And itensures that under the premise of the fundamental value of the books-readingfunction, enhancing comfort and fun of books, and give the book other sentimentalvalue, so that books can better meet people’s choices in the popularity of electronicmedia background.This article firstly analyses the current situation of the books; secondly analysesthe interaction between the book design elements and reading behavior withpsychology; thirdly analyses the use of design psychology in book design.
