With the econmic development in China, more and more people pay attention to environmental protection. The comprehensive utilization of the titania-bearing blast furnace slag has been a technically difficult problem that needs to be solved urgently for a long time. Because of titanium-bearing blast furnace slag had occupied a large number of land, and it had caused environmental pollution for local people,in this paper, titanium-bearing blast furnace slag as raw materials was prepared ceramic material, it will be solved for the comprehensive utilization problem. At the same time, in this paper, using anti-bacterial properties of TiO2in the titanium-bearing blast slag, prepared anti-bacterial ceramics, it is the best effective utilization for improving its added value. As well as, anti-bacterial material is one of the important material,the study has immediate significance for very well.In this paper, the titania-bearing blast furnace slag was used as the main raw material to prepare an anti-bacterial ceramics with kaolinite, potassium feldspar, pyrophillite and quartz sand. Firstly, in this experiment, the ceramic body and glaze were made by using a series of technology and processing such as making raw material, preparing ceramic body, moulding, drying process and sintering. Secondly, slag amount in ceramic body and heat treatment were determined preliminarily by single factor experiment. Then, the orthogonal experiment was used to determine the successive relationships, such as the effect of slag amount, firing temperature, holding time and heating rate on bulk shrinkage. In addition, experiment of glaze firing to determine temperature schedule of glaze firing was studied. Then, the orthogonal experiment is used to determine the successive relationship, such as the effect of slag amount in glaze, glaze firing temperature and holding time on water absorption. Finally, the ceramic materials preparations had the best experimental scheme by using the experiment of contrast monofired with twice firing. At the same time, the ceramic material of components and microstructure were examined and analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM and Microscope.As a result of experiment showed that the effect of slag amount, firing temperature, holding time and heating rate on bulk shrinkage in the orthogonal experiment of biscuit firing is firing temperature>holding time>heating rate>slag amount. Titania-bearing blast furnace slag amount in body ceramic is35%, firing temperature was1200℃, holding time was30minute, heating rate is10℃/min, which are the best experimental scheme. The results of physical and chemical properties are as the follows:bulk density is3.03×103kg/m3, average compressive strength is40.62MPa, average flexure strength of the ceramic is35.84MPa. The effect of slag amount, firing temperature and holding time on water absorption in the orthogonal experiment of glaze firing is holding time>slag amount>firing temperature. Titania-bearing blast furnace slag amount in glaze is55%, glaze firing is1150℃, holding time is20min, heating rate is5℃/min, the cooling quomodo is slowly. The result of the orthogonal experiment is that the best glaze interior tile of physical and chemical properties, which bulk density, compressive strength and flexure strength is2.74×103kg/m3,57.99MPa and37.12MPa. The result of experimental optimization of glazed tile is that slag amount in glaze, glaze firing, holding time and heating rate is55%,1150℃,15min and5℃/min.As far as material antibacterial performance, in this paper, the anti-bacterial properties of the ceramic material was tested and evaluated on the basis of the width of bacteriostasis ring of colon bacillus. The results show that ceramic body had favorable anti-bacterial activity. The results show that the optimum heat treating temperature is800℃, and titania-bearing blast furnace slag amount in ceramic body was40%had the optimum anti-bacterial properties, the average width of the anti-bacterial loop was more than3mm. The sample was excitation by ultraviolet light which proved to have better antibacterial performance. The results were up to architectural and sanitary ceramics material of antibacterial standards.In conclusion, the experiment is conduced to prepare a new low-cost and simple anti-bacterial ceramic material. The maximum operating factor for titania-bearing blast furnace slag is40%in body ceramic.The maximum operating factor for titania-bearing blast furnace slag is55%in glaze. Moreover, it is a excellent material, it is good for produce large-size products and mass production due to good forming; it is good for strength of products and energy saving due to low firing temperature;it is good for anti-bacterial properties without antimicrobial, and all performance are up to national standards.
