The paper took shaft deformation induced by exploiting partially protective coal pillar in auxiliary shaft of Dayaogou coal mine for example; engineering geological conditions of the place where shaft located and detailed situations in goaf around were investigated deep. Based on the analysis of measured deformation data, inclination law of shaft under steep coal seam mining was deeply discussed and horizontal displacement curves and inclination curves of shaft in axis direction were obtained. According to partial mining status of protective coal pillar in auxiliary shaft and engineering geological conditions of the place where shaft located, the paper simulated and researched the process and mechanism of shaft deformation and damage induced by exploiting partially protective coal pillar by using FLAC3D finite difference software. Through the comparison between simulated data and measured data, the laws of inclination and compression deformation of shaft and stress field distribution of surrounding rock were obtained; also the destructive influence degree of exploiting partially protective coal pillar on shaft was obtained. Through the further mining region prediction of Dayaogou coal mine under that protective coal pillar mining had no effect on shaft lifting, and the prediction obtained that superior limit and lower limit of further mining region was-350m and-430m respectively and uphill and downhill strike length was340m and382m respectively. The results of the research had a guiding significance for vertical shaft protection and recovering protective coal pillar resources in the future.
