Polyoxometalates (POMs), as an important class of stable metal-oxide clusters, haveattracted more and more attentions for the potential applications in a variety of fields such asmedicine, catalysis, materials science, and so on. However, POMs chemistry is stillexperiencing unparalleled development of rapid synthesis of functional POMs-based newcompounds but relative slow development of functional nano/micromaterials, devices andtheir application in modern technology. From the application point of view for POMchemistry, it is still a challenging and intriguing task to develop new strategies for thelarge-scale synthesis of new POMs-based functional composites. In the present work, we developed a facile strategy to prepare C@POMs colloids anduniform KPHS utilizing carbon spheres as the hard template and remove the carbon templateby the calcinations. In addition, the KPHS possesses good electrochemical andelectrocatalytic properties confirmed by the cyclic voltammetry measurement.1. Preparation of uniform carbon colloidal spheres: The uniform carbon colloidal spheresin the range of320–340nm were successfully synthesized through a typical synthesis methodat160oC for10h.2. Preparation of C@POMs colloid: After the carbon colloidal was prepared, carboncolloidal spheres were ultrasonically dispersed in distilled water and then PW12aqueoussolution was added dropwise into the above colloidal solution under ultrasonically dispersed. The resulting colloidal solution was aged for12h, the larger C@PW12colloid with the sizeof640–660nm was formed.3. Preparation of POMs hollow spheres: The as-prepared C@POMs core-shellcomposites were firstly dried, then a facile calcination process in a muffle furnace was appliedto remove the carbon cores for obtaining the final uniform KPHS. The KPHS represent goodelectrochemical and electrocatalytic properties.
