In this paper,the electrode property and the solidification mode of weld metal are studied using high Cr-Ni stainless steel electrodes as the welding consumable,based the thick grain,lower strength and thermal crack and others questions in the welding production of high Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel.The technological properties of the high Cr-Ni stainless steel elecetrodes.the chemical composition,the mechanical pro-perties,the ferrite content and the microstructure of the weld metal are tested and ana-lysed through surfacing test with six kinds electrode of different brands manufactured in different countries, including GES-310Z,GES-310Z,GES-310Z,GES-310,CHS402, OK310Mo-L,MECS E310-16and PWE310-16,and the solidification mode of the wel-d metal of electrode of different brands. The affection to the solidification mode of weld metal made from the powder particles size of the marble,chromium,nickel and other alloys powder in the electrode coating is researched. And, the grains of weld me-tal are refined with the method of hammering process.Finally,the results show that:The weld metal from different high Cr-Ni stainless steel electrodes with different grades has many differences in the process performance,mechanical properties, chem-ical composition,ferrite content and microstructure.With the increasing of the content of chromium and nickel in the electrode, the Creq/Nieq becoming lower in the weld metal, and it will solidify by the mode of fully austenitic solidification mainly,so there will not be enough8ferrite in the weld metal.The process that refining the marble and alloy powder in the electrode coating c-an change the solidification mode and the microstructure of the high Cr-Ni stainless steel weld metal. The electrode coating formed of oversize marble and fine alloy pow-der can refine the grains of weld metal farthest;and the coating formed of the fine marble and fine alloy powder can best change the solidification mode of weld metal from A to AF.The process of hammering the each bead after finish the welding can effectively refine the weld microstructure in the high temperature zone when welding the25-20stainless steel with high Cr-Ni stainless steel electrode.
