The Sustainable Design Research On Kitchen Organic Waste Use In Urban Families

This paper mainly researches how people deal with kitchen organic waste. This paper makes a questionare to do a quantitative research on people’s consciousness and behaviors, and do user interview to explore how they deal with the waste. So that researchers can find out the design innovation points of the product and service platform.Firstly, this paper researches the useless, diposal, retrieve, proportion and composion of the waste from family kitchens in Changsha. Secondly, through analying the collection data, researchers carry out the key design points. Lastly, this paper finishs the design of Home Kitchen Waste Composter and Self-Agriculture Platform by combining the methods of Origin Method, Task Analysis, Characteristics Listed, Brainsorming and Semantic Distinction.There are two innovations of this Paper. One is:design a product service platform system to recycly use the kitchen waste from inspect of Design, avoiding the current research fields in using of kitchen waste with urban planning research or processing technical research which from the environmental engineering, policy management and urban planning. The Home kitchen waste composter product let the kitchen waste collection and operation more convenient and the service system platform allows users to participate actively in the kitchen garbage collection. The other is:this paper eventually get family kitchen waste composting produc and service system platform which are suitable for housewife operation behavior, Chinese kitchen waste features and China’s housing structure through the user researches and the EMs efficient microbes anaerobic fermentation technology. Meanwhile, this paper finish the construction of "Self-Agriculture Platform" by combining the current network technology, which guides users reduce and sustainablly recycle kitchen organic waste in indoor.The "I-kitchen" project in this paper is conducted by the Piano Cabinet Design company. This paper finally use the home kitchen waste composter and the business model of "self-agriculture platform" as the sustainable design solution of reducing and recycling the kitchen organic wastes.
