As the global land resource exhausting, the ocean resources have been the hot issue forthe whole world. The ocean oil and natural gas have mature application technology, and thenecessary condition to exploit these resources is to own the deep water pipe connectiontechnology of high efficiency, safety and reliability, and the retrievable collet connector is thetypical repersentative of the quick and efficient connection technology for the deep water. Theretrievable collet connector is designed in detail and the ability to withstand load for theconnector is analyzed depend on CNOOC project of "underwater separators and relatedtechnology research".At first, the design parameters of the retrievable collet connector suited to our waters andmining environment is put forward after compared of several similar products abroad. Theseal of compound lens gasket is designed according to the complex working conditions underthe water. The retrievable collet connector whose key parts including the collet and actuatorring is independently designed, and completed the motion simulation of the connectior’s keyparts.Then, the connector action is arranged and the whole set connector installation tool isdesigned to meet the quick and reliable seal requirementAs the bad working condition in deep water for connector, the ability to withstand loadneeds to be analyzed in order to evaluate the reliability of the connector. And the relationshipbetween all kinds of load and the displacement resulted in flange seal failure is analyzed intheory. Using finite element software simulates the load bearing joint, and the scope of thetension and the pressure in which connector can withstand. The relationship between the sealloading force and seal face stress of the lens gasket is researched. Finally, due to the key partspressure experiments of the connector, the reliability of the lens gasket and the rationality ofthe structure are verified. Meanwhile, to a certain extent, the relationship between the sealloading force and sealing performance of the lens pad is also proved.
