Polyurethane elastomer has good elasticity, abrasive resistance, oil resistance, radiationresistance, ozone resistance, and biocompatibility. It has been widely used in building energysaving, tire industry, food packaging, adhesive, medical appliances and waterproof materials,etc. However, the poor heat resistance of PUE limits its application in different fields.Therefore, improving the mechanical properties and heat resistance of polyurethane elastomeris becoming the studying focus. Ordinarily, there are two main ways to prepare highperformance polyurethane elastomer: one way is selecting raw materials of new structuresand designing new experimental plan; the other is adding inorganic particles with goodstability and high mechanical properties to the system of polyurethane elastomer.In this paper, the molecular weight of polyethylene tetra hydrofuran ether glycol (PTMG),the content of NCO%in prepolymers, chain extension agent type and the influences ofcoefficient of chain extender on mechanical properties of TDI-80and TDI-100were studiedin detail. The optimum PTMG/TDI-100matrix system was determined. Three different kindsof PUE composites were prepared with PUE as the matrix and graphite as the filler by in situpolymerization. And the influence of graphite particle size, coupling agent types and contentof graphite on the properties of graphite/PUE were studied. Its microscopic structure,mechanical properties and heat resistance were delicately investigated and discussed byFourier infrared (FT-IR), electronic scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), the tensile test, tear resistance test, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and so on.The results showed that compared with the blank sample, overall performance of PUEreached the top when E-300, KH-560, graphite (500mesh) with loading of15wt%werechosen as the chain extension agent, coupling agent and filler, respectively. The tensile strength, tear strength increased by28.2%and24.5%, respectively. And the meltingtemperature increased44℃.
