In modern biochemistry, dye molecules of all kinds are playing indispensibleparts. Techniques have emerged focused on advanced bioimaging, biologicaldetection, chemical sensing as well as chemical detection, none of which are notinterconnected with luminescent materials, and which have provided solution forscientific research and industrial life. The advent of composite fluorescentnanoparticles has significantly improved the fluorescent efficiency of the materials, elongating the life of dyes and avoiding the leakage of dye molecules more efficiently. Moreover, the development of noble nanoclusters has attracted much attention. Theyhave high photostability, excellent biocompatibility and relatively large stokes shift, playing important roles due to advantages over most of the dye molecules. This paperdiscusses the syntheses and applications of composite fluorescent nanoparticles, properties of silver nanoclusters and their applications on ion detection. The maincontent include:1.(MSA) is a highly efficient organic dye with aggregation-induced fluorescentbehavior. It has wide applications in electroluminescent devices, photosensors, andbioimaging. Based on above properties, this paper studies the fluorescent behaviorwhen MSA are associated with PMMS, which has concluded with a fluorescent labelwith high brightness and high stability. In addition, this paper also investigates theproperties of the association and thermoresponse of MSA and thermoresponsivePNIPAM. This kind of dye-composite microspheres has the potential of becoming a multifunctional fluorescent thermosensitive material.2. The solvent action of silver nanoclusters templated by PMMA/PMMA-PMAA andsynthesized by emulsion polymerization is studied. With core-shellPMMA/PMMA-PMAA polymer nanospheres as templates, the addition of silvernitrate, and under proper concentration and pH value of the solutions, silvernanoclusters with water solubility and high stability are thus synthesized in aphoto-reduced way. The effects of solvent action on the fluorescence of the silvernanoclusters and the changes of surrounding medium are studied to have affected thefluorescent intensity. In organic solvents, the stretching of the polymer nanosphereschanges the environment of the silver nanoclusters, affecting significantly thefluorescent emission.3.Novel fluorescent silver nanoclusters prepared by core-shell polymer nanoparticlesas templates and the photochemical growth were applied to detecting copper (Cu2+)ions in aqueous solution based on the fluorescence quenching effect. These changes influorescence intensity allow quick response and sensitive detection of Cu2+ions atconcentration as low as20.9nM. Also, excellent selectivity of Cu2+ions was observedin anti-interference experiments against other metal cations. These fluorescent silvernanoclusters embedded in the polymer nanoparticles have the advantage of long-termstability and good water solubility, which are suitable to be combined withmicrofluidic system for real-time sensing of Cu2+ions.
