Proved by interactive cross-over study in multi-disciplinary field. Ecological corridor has become a theoretical system in multi-areas such as complex ecological, economy and society, which plays key roles on the conservation of biological diversity, maintaining the security of regional ecological pattern, and the rational usage of land resources. Recent years the positive impact of ecological corridor on human physical space attracts more attention, and in major cities construction around the theory of "corridor" for the construction of major cities in China comes to thriving stage. However, feedback from the practical research projects shows that, in certain ways, indispensable eco-efficiency of sustainable urban development is being replaced by function placing more value on "human". As such a highly complex ecosystem, cities inevitably demand diverse functions on space construction, but the natural subsystem security is the prerequisite and foundation to ensure stability of the social and economic subsystem, especially in such condition while the rapid urbanization results in loss of biodiversity, and the spread of land usage threats the environmental carrying capacity of the natural ecology. Ecological corridor is considered as an efficient way to solve the problem since it involves much in landscape spatial pattern, biodiversity, and urban and rural planning. Therefore, high eco-efficiency of the corridor in physical space construction is particularly urgent and necessary.Based on the issues above, this paper is to analyze the interactive relationship between corridor function and spatial structure and present the evolution law of roles that biodiversity and physical space are playing. In this paper, a sample ecological corridor system is constructed. This system aims at biological diversity protection and physical space integration of urban and rural. It provides the basis and technical support for the corridor planning, construction and management. This paper is divided into five parts:Chapter1presents development and current situation of ecological corridor. This chapter outlines the framework of this paper including ideas, content, purpose, and approach.Chapter2presents scientific knowledge of corridor construction, including corridor type and structure. Based on the corridor functions, this chapter has classified current corridor’s theoretical study at home and abroad, and analyzed domestic and foreign practical construction. This chapter also has explained the interaction mechanisms of corridor function and laws of space construction. The two basic theories (biodiversity theory and physical space construction theory of urban and rural areas) are also cited and explained in this chapter. Chapter3presents the laws of biological diversity evolving in the system of material and physical space. Content about theory of biological diversity in this chapter focuses on three theories (food chain theory, critical theory and niche theory) in the ecosystem and the law construction about hierarchy in ecosystem diversity. This chapter has pointed out that the ecosystem diversity and spatial scale have a direct relationship; Content about landscape diversity theory in this chapter focuses on landscape pattern, scale effect and the function law of diversity and physical space, and initial the association construction of the corridor, diversity, and physical space:Content about theory urban and rural physical space planning in this chapter explains the interaction relations of the human physical space evolution and natural ecosystems, constructs the law of biodiversity conservation in physical space in urban and rural areas, and raised that the law of ecosystem hierarchy conforms to the hierarchy characteristics of physical space in urban and rural areas.Chapter4presents the law of interactions between the corridor construction and the biodiversity or physical space. This chapter has clarified the significance of corridor construction to the physical space and the construction principle. Base on the laws of ecosystem diversity hierarchy in the physical space, a physical space model of "space area-sub region-city-urban district" for the corridor system is proposed. This chapter also focuses on designing the spatial scale which impacts on the corridor biodiversity protection. Different levels of corridor have different width. Grounded theory above, integration of corridor system layout in physical space is explained in latter content. At last another principle of pace controlling is proposed, based on integration of corridor planning and urban-rural planning.Chapter5illustrates the feasibility of the controlling principles and space pattern of ecological system based on biodiversity conservation. The argument takes Pixian County as the carrier of physical space, and is to construct an ecological corridor system with biological diversity protection which is flexible, practical and feasible.
