Conductive PANI/PTSA and PANI/DBSA were synthesized by using ammonium persulfate (APS) as oxidant, toluene-p-sulfonic acid (PTSA) and dodecyl benzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) as dopants, respectively. The FT-IR spectra were used to characterize the polymers and the morphologies of the samples were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The influence of the acidity on aniline polymerization was investigated by adding different amount of HC1into the polymerization solution of using PTSA as dopant. PANI/PTSA-0, PANI/PTSA-0.05, PANI/PTSA-0.1, PANI/PTSA-0.15, PANI/PTSA-0.2, PANI/PTSA-0.3were obtained from the solution with HC1concentration of0,0.05,0.1,0.15,0.2and0.3mol·L-1, respectively. The samples were investigated by SEM to study the influence of acidity on morphologies of the obtained polymers.The influence of the amount of dopant DBSA on aniline polymerization was studied by control the molar ratio of aniline and DBSA to be3:1,2:1,1:1,1:1.5,1:2,1:2.5,1:3,1:4to afford PANI/DBSA-3/1, PANI/DBSA-2/1, PANI/DBSA-1/1, PANI/DBSA-1/1.5, PANI/DBSA-1/2, PANI/DBSA-1/2.5, PANI/DBSA-1/3, PANI/DBSA-1/4. The polymers PANI/DBSA-1/1-0.005, PANI/DBSA-1/1-0.01, PANI/DBSA-1/1-0.03, PANI/DBSA-1/1-0.05, PANI/DBSA-1/1-0.07, PANI/DBSA-1/1-0.1, PANI/DBSA-1/1-0.15, PANI/DBSA-1/1-0.2, PANI/DBSA-1/1-0.4, PANI/DBSA-1/1-0.6were obtained from the solution containing same amount of aniline and DBSA as well as HC1with concentrations of0.005,0.01,0.03,0.05,0.07,0.1,0.15,0.2,0.4,0.6mol·L-1, respectively. The samples were investigated by SEM to study the influence of the amount of DBSA and acidity on morphologies of the obtained polymers.Based on the former work of our group, complex of mesoporous silica (KIT6) and polyaniline (PANI/KIT6) was prepared. Gas sensing elements were fabricated through spin coating PANI/DBSA-1/1, PANI/KIT6and similarly prepared PANI/HC1on etched ITO glass, respectively. The responses of the gas sensing elements to methanol, ethanol, dichloromethane and tetrachloromethane were studied.
