In recent years, it is a hot topic to the research of the coordination polymers, not onlyfor their intriguing variety of architectural features, but also for their potentialapplications as functional solid materials in magetism, catalysis, nonlinear optics, gasstorage and so on. How to build a new coordination polymer with superiorfunctionality is a great chanllenge placed in front of each chemist. According to theliterature, lots of factors affect the formation of the polymer, such as ligand, reactiontemperature, pH value, solvent, and molar ratio of the raw materials. Herein, how tochoose the appropriate ligand, is the most important factor to build compound withspecific morphological and functional. Aromatic multicarboxylic acid ligands are bythe wide range of popular because of their more coordination sites and a variety ofconnection modes which are possible and provide abundant structural motifs.Meanwhile, the carboxyl groups have strong bridging ability and rich coordinationmodes, aromatic carboxylic acid is conducive to the existence of the large π electronsystem. There are many such ligands have been reported. Herein, we choose H4bptcwhich have rare reported before, reaction with differents metal ions and obtained aseries of interesting compounds. While in-depth analysis on their structure, we discusstheir different characteristics respective.1, A new compound have been obtained by biphenyl-2,5,2,5-tetracarboxylicacid and ethylenediamine ligands with Ni(II)ion under solvthermal method, namely,[Ni2(bptc)(en)2(2-H2O)]·2H2O(1), It represents a unique neb topology, which isevidently distinct from diamond and lonsdaleite topologies. In addition, the complexdisplays intriguing structural features of perpendicular right-and left-handed helicalchains, as well as ferromagnetic interactions. Furthermore, the ferroelectric propertyis preliminarily discussed.2, Three new compounds have been obtaind bybiphenyl-2,5,2,5-tetracarboxylic acid with Zn(II)and Cd(II)ions under solvthermalmethod, namely,[Zn3(bptc)1.5(H2O)4]·C2H5OH·2H2O (2);[Cd3(L)2(DMF)2]·2H2O·2DMF (3);[Zn2(bptc)(H2O)]·C2H5OH·H2O (4). Compound2represents a rare trinodal (3,4,10)-connected topology network. Compound3is a(3,6)-connected coordination net which results from the solvothermal in situformation of a new asymmetrical ligand. Compound4is a12-connected microporousMOF with fcu topology, and the fcu network can be ordered through hexahedralanalogues nanocages as SBB. In addition, the samples adsorption and delivery properties of the drug ibuprofen were discussed.
