Volatile phenol is refers to the thing that can be volatile out together with the steam in the distillation process, and it is the current main pollution in water environment. It has high toxicity. and does very harm to people, fish and crops. The rapid and accurate determination of volatile phenol is a hot spot of research in the environmental monitoring field. This article reviewed the main analytical methods of volatile phenol in both domestic and foreign countries, and pointed out the main problems existing in current methods. Through the comparison among three commonly used flow analysis methods, we finally chose bubble partition fragments continuous flow analysis (CFA) to detect volatile phenol. The results show that the CFA method has better linear (r=0.9999) and lower detection limit (0.232μg·-1) than other two methods. In our established methods, the relative standard deviation was less than0.553%. the relative error was less than0.185%. the spiked recoveries were between91.0%~99.8%. and analysis speed can reach24per hour. Compared with the traditional HJ503method, it has higher accuracy and precision, faster analysis speed, but less sample and reagent dosage, and less environmental pollution. Matters should arouse attention in the process of CFA analysis are also summarized in this paper.
