The separation of small particle from PTA mother liquid was the paper’s engineering application background. Firstly, the paper researched and analysis the controllable preparation and performance of porous material, mainly focued on the affection of powder size and molding pressure on the porosity, maximum pore size and permeability of porous materials in the same sintering temperature and sintering time. The porosity was mostly influenced by molding pressure rather than powder size. The porosity decreased with the increase of molding pressure. In contrast to molding pressure, the maximum pore size of porous materials was mostly influenced by powder size and they were demonstrated to have a linear relationship. The permeability of porous materials was influenced by powder size and porosity. When porosity was determined, the permeability and the square of particle size were demonstrated to have a linear relationship. Then, it explored the preparation methods of asymmetric porous metal material. With the dry powder coating method, the prepared asymmetric porous material had good performance. With the use of laboratory preparation of PTA mother liquor, the filtration performance of porous materials and asymmetric porous material was tested and comparative studied. It concluded that the pressure drop of asymmetric porous materials was80%less than porous materials. Mother liquid velocity had great influence on the pressure loss. After experiment and analysis, the asymmetric porous material, the porous substrate powder size of which was115μm and the membrane powder size of which was37.8μm, was advised to be used in the filtration of PTA mother liquid. Comprehensive consideration of the enterprise operation efficiency and energy consumption, it was advised that the mother liquid velocity of the asymmetric porous tube should be set at50L/h and back flushed every thirty minutes.
