The characteirstic of petroleum and chemical industrys is high energy consumption.Improvement of production technology and reduction of energy consumption are importantmeasure to improve the market competitiveness of company.Recovery of energy effectivelymakes a significant contirbution to energy-saving and consumption-dccrcasing in theproduction process of oil refining and other industires.Therefore, petro-chemical plants aresimulated and the energy is analyzed, the heat exchange net is optimized are significant torealize persistent development strategy in our country.This paper mainly studied the gas rfactionation unit.Firstly,the operating parameters of thefive-tower distillation process were simulated and optimized with the PRO/11simulationsotfware, and the energy is analyzed to identiifed the system enei^y "bottleneck",that ispropylene-propane separation system, the energy consumption take up above60%on totalenergy consumption.so the heat pump distillation proccss was proposed.The operatingparameters of the heat pump distillation process were determined with the PRO/II simulationsoftware5and the energy is anaJyzed.Compared the energy consumption of the heat pumpdistillation process with the ifve-tower distillation process,it can save29.43million yuan ofoperating costs every year,the efifciency of energy saving is43.38%. The energy saving resultwas apparent. Secondly,exergy was analyzed in two gas rfactionation process basiced onpirnciples of thermodynamics. Finally,the heat exchanger network of the five-tower distillationprocess and the heat pump distillation process were analyzed and optimized.The heatexchanger network of the ifvc-tower distillation process that has been optimized saved heatingutilities712.29kW and cooling utilities712.29kW,and the heat exchanger network of the heatpump distillation process saved heating utilities289.67kW,cooling utilities289.67kW.Theresults indicated that the energy saving result was apparent,and the optimization of the heatexchanger network is feasible, which is of a significance for guiding the gas fractionation unit.
