Nowadays,product quality and the requirement of accuracy is increasingday by day, metal cutting processing methods also has developed rapidly. Boring,as the normal method of processing deep hole, also gets more and moreattentions. Vibration may be easily produced in process if the length of the boringbar is four times than its diameter. That will affects the quality of products andeven will cause the interruption of the whole machining process. Therefore, howto decrease vibrations in boring process becomes an important research subject.This paper designs a boring bar with a multi degree of freedom vibrationabsorber inside, and carries out the theory analysis and numerical simulation ofthe boring bar. The simulation results show that the design can actually reach thepurpose of reducing vibration.Firstly, Present research situation of boring bars was analyzed on the basisof reading existing literatures. Then the methods to reduce vibration theory wereexpounded and mathematical mode of boring bar with double degree of freedomvibration reduction device inside was set up.Secondly, overall structure of double degree of freedom vibration reductionboring bar was designed based on the theory of vibration reduction. Detailedanalysis of the various parts of the bar was carried out. Then, based on doubledegree of freedom vibration reduction boring bar and established mathematicalmodel, modal analysis and harmonic response analysis were carried out using thefinite element analysis software ANSYS. The natural frequency and amplitude-frequency curve of boring bar were got. At the same time, in order to carry on theresults contrast, the same analyses of traditional boring bar were done. Aftercomparing the results, we can get that the design can indeed reduce amplitude ofvibration.At last insert optimal design was carried out based on AdvantEdge software.Cutting simulation of three inserts with different rake angle (5°,10°,15°)were carried out using the software,also the same simulation of four inserts withdifferent cutting blades including flat rake face,waved-edge,T-edge and toothshape edge were carried out. And the different influence to force and temperaturewere got. The result shows that the tooth edge insert has smaller cutting force andlower temperature in cutting. And in practice it can prolong the life of cuttingtools, so that can save cutting costs, improve enterprise efficiency, the design haspractical significance.
