Methanol is an important basic chemical raw material which can be produced from natural gas and coal. With the development of coal chemical engineering in China, the production of methanol increases a lot which leads to intense competition in methanol price. It is better way to reduce the production price of methanol to keep the position in the market competition. Hence, the study on energy saving approach in methanol plant from natural gas is important which has a great significance on the same type of device. CNOOC Chemical Limited800,000tons methanol plant using DPT UK methanol technology, by China into engineering company responsible for the engineering design, high carbon dioxide, nitrogen content of natural gas as raw material, the use of DPT the CRG (pre-reformer) and conventional steam reformer to produce synthesis gas, compression, synthesis, distillation processes produce not only satisfy the national GB338-2004-class product standards, but also to meet the United States OM-232K "AA" level standard of refined methanol. In this paper, CNOOC800,000tons methanol plant energy consumption in the whole process of analysis and evaluation, its main operating unit of raw materials and energy consumption needs to be seen in the natural gas conversion unit energy consumption is the most prominent. As a the foreign mature technology package, as well as technical changes made based on the actual working conditions, is to improve the system-wide energy of natural gas to methanol plant to maximize the utilization important way. This article can improve methanol production plant using natural gas as raw material in terms of energy saving rewarding experience.
